The latest development in e-tradecounter has been the new search. We have vigorously tested different options and methods to improve your search results when using our site. After our all research was collected we began building the new improved search engine.
Our new search engine combines a mix of the best parts. Firstly nothing has changed about using the search; it is still easy to use and simple. Just type in what you need on the right hand side in the search box to be taken to the results.
However this is where all the major changes have been made. We now offer a much wider range of results for you all ranked in order of what is most relevant. The first section of the new search is powered by Bing. This will search our site using Bing's technology for the best matches. The Bing results will never be more than five. We found that few people where going past four results and it would take up too much room on the page to display them all.
The next part of the search is the manufacturer match; if you type in a manufacturer and they are listed on our site it will give you a direct link to their respective page. The next and final part of the new search is our new improved product search.
The product search before could be very temperamental, if you did not know the product code or title you would not get any results back, the new improved search however now looks at the descriptions of products as well. This makes for more accurate results.
With the 3 new and improved search features combined we can provide greater results and suggestions than ever before.
Some examples of improvements can be seen by using the new search. In the old search if you typed in Robus, you would only see the manufacturer result. If you typed in Robus lighting no results were returned. Without new search a brief look for Robus will return the main Robus pages, the Robus manufacturer page as well as all the Robus products. A search for Robus lighting and our Bing results take charge by linking you to the manufacturer page and key parts of the site that Robus lights are heavily involved in.
We hope this new search will still be as pleasing on the eye with the use of images and text, as well as been, as effective as possible with minimal load times.
Our next major development has been improving our customer relations. You can now look forward to a follow up email after you have received your items asking you how you found the purchase and overall us.
